I was meandering thru the library in Nakusp, BC during the spring and found a copy of Gord Downie's last project The Secret Path. It's an animated movie, album and graphic novel called . It took me until yesterday to watch. The video was sitting there, threaded to the end of my 'Watch Later' playlist. No doubt. I saw it there through lots of different kinds of days, but I wasn't ready. I knew it would hurt. And it did. What I didn't expect were the avenues it would open in me to understand a fundamental part of our atmosphere on Turtle Island/Canada. Check it out if you have a chance. The final hour is a panel discussion based on the state of affairs in Canada. Who holds power. Who shares, and who doesn't. The panel is amazing! I've never seen anything like it in terms of public discourse. And shout out to the participants:Ry Moran,,Tasha Hubbard, and Jesse Wente. I'll be reading the Truth and Reconcilliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action over the next few days. Take a peek if you're interested! Also wrote a new last verse to my song (now in demo phase) called Cracks.
I was very moved by Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toba, who has a lot to fight for at the moment; his country`s existence. I listened to his recent interview on 'Democracy Now'. He read a few poems from his new book 'Forest of Noise.' One that stood out to me was Under the Rubble. It`s a poem... a very good one by my standards at least, which may not count for much but please read it if you have the time, regardless of opinion.
ohhhh for fack sake, I busted a u-joint after Fredericton... took off the drive shaft and I think I broke a yoke, Clifford's in storage for the time being... I'm going rogue
Sometimes music does run on synchronistic terms, I'll admit it! Weeks after penning a new song 'Worry' I listened to a podcast about the so-called Jackpot Generation. Huge thanks to Arthur Krumins for hosting a singer/songwriting circle that forced my hand at finishing a few songs! Take a listen to the podcast episode that retroactively inspired the song HERE. Listen to the demo for new song 'Worry' HERE.

In a public library as per usual. I love working in the chaos! I guess in a nuttyshell this blog is meant to circumvent a problem I've been having with online presence. I read somewhere that blogs are a great way of mitigating the core problem with social media. In fact I saw it on a blogging website of all places. According to Zonelet's mission statement:
"I(we) want to learn new things, but social media rewards shallow discussion."
If you know me then you know I'm no fan of shallow discussion... at least right now. At this time of my life. A time when things have been flipped upside down on a personal level. It's interesting! The last time this happened was the summer of 2020. A family member was about to pass, my family split and I went thru a hardcore breakup. As of right now 2/3 of those things have went down, but I'm not superstitious. What's interesting is what came after. I finally changed! I got sober (which was a challenge) and I began to take this music/writing/vagabond bullshit (somewhat) seriously. But blogging is something new, which is a form of change after all. Plus this is fun and I'll do more of it! BTW Music-wise I've got about 15-20 demos done/ songs written yet unreleased. Writing-wise I've got thousands upon thousands of words being created/edited/scrutinized daily. Driving home for XMAS, hope to see ya on the way -D.
